Question:

ATP Masters Series draw?

Why in Masters Series Monte Carlo and Rome seeded No 1 faced No 3 and No 2 faced No 4 while in Miami and Hamburg No 1 faced No 4 and No 2 faced No 3 in the semi?

I thought in all the tournaments, the No 1 will meet No 4 and No 2 meet No 3. How do they come up with this?

  1. I am sorry that i cant know much about this.

But i feel that only No.1 and No.2 are surly drawn not to meet  before the final. No.1 no.2 no.3 no.4 not  to meet before the semis.

Similarly, no.1, no.2, ...,no.8 not to meet before the quarters.

And so No1 maybe in the same half of the draw with only No.3 or No.4. The another will be in the another half with No.2.

Hope to see Djokovic in the same half of the draw with Nadal at Wimbledon. If not, Federer maybe will fall No.1 this year.

  2. depends on the tour..

  3. In tournaments that have a random draw, which is all of them except for the round-robin year-end Masters Cup, the #1 and #2 seeds are placed on opposite sides, but the rest of the field is put in the draw randomly. So in effect, the #1 seed could draw #3 or #4 in the semis, or any of the #5-#8 seeds in the quarters, #9-#16 in the round of 16, and so on.
