Betting odds predict a win for the Defending champion; Nadal Vs Federer – ATP World Tour Finals
Dominating the headlines so far at the O2 are the upset stomachs, groin injuries and other ailments rather than tennis itself. However, the match between Federer and Nadal is the only thing one has to watch out for.
Brit world No.4, Andy Murray, suffered a groin injury and put paid to the first bet of the day at the London, Barclay’s World Tour Finals on Monday losing straight sets to the mighty Spaniard, David Ferrer.
The second match of the day was between the top Serb, Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych. The start of the match made the bet got down in favour of the Czech, however, backed in to 1.35 from 1.5 to beat Berdych with a close run.
Something that should be there before betting is a health warning, as after only two days’ of play, Rafael Nadal, Murray and Djokor are suffering injuries and illness and no one know who is going to join them next.
However, the next match is between Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and the no-longer-injured American, Mardy Fish. As the two are in perfect health and have no such health problems in the overnight or in the morning practice session,
the competition would be worth a watch.
The reason this match is going to have a great importance is that the two have met only once before and the meeting came at this year’s US Open when Tsonga ousted the home favourite in a hard hitting five setter match ending in
favour of the Frenchman. So now the American would certainly be looking for revenge this time.
Tsonga was his typical mix up of transcendence and unreliable against Roger Federer in his first match and he's developed a disturbing inclination of starting off fixtures slowly of late, which puts bettors off backing him to win
in straight sets at around 2.5.
In any case, Fish cannot be ruled out of the as the American is in no mood to get injured or sick, and seemingly is much determined to go as far as possible in the title run.
As the 1.57 favourite, the stress will be on Tsonga to get a result and a relaxed Fish may perhaps demonstrate a awkward adversary for the world number six. The best bet in this one lies in the total games market, which will be
over the 23.5 game mark at around 1.85, as this one might as well be going to a decider.
On the other hand, the main match for Tuesday is between the all time rivals, Nadal and Federer. However, the favourite for this time is the in-form Swiss Maestro at around 1.5 based on his current form. Yet, Rafa’s 18-8 lead over
the Swiss cannot be ruled out at the moment.
The typical tactic used by the Spaniard, getting the ball up high with topspin to the Federer backhand doesn’t work as well on indoor courts as Federer proved that in the last year’s final match of the World Tour Finals .
Anyway, there is an equal chance for the two to get an advantage, however, the defending champion has nothing to lose, however, he might have one more to win and then make his tennis journey epic.
