Yes I know animals can be wounded but that is slightly different from what I am asking. Are there different conditions of health that can be consistently used across the animal kingdom. OR are animals only diseased or healthy?

  1. Animals, wild, captive, domestic and farm all suffer from various afflictions, disease and conditions.  There have been volumes of books written about the subject.  Many of these books are specific for the type of animal.  Like fish pathology.  There are labs setup just to diagnose the health problems.

  2. "...parasites are capable of infesting or infecting a broad range of hosts." [McCurnin]  Couldn't think of a better way to phrase it. And I'm not positive, but I don't think parasites are considered a disease.

I don't know if you would consider it "wounded", but other infections (ear infection), conditions where there are higher or lower levels of various things in the body (anemia = blood condition of less than normal levels of red blood cells or hemoglobin. [Romich]), malnutrition, ....

I'm not a vet, but I'm reading some vet tech books before entering the Army so I have a heads-up and hopefully not fail the training for Animal Care Specialist.
