I read some time ago in flying mag how Gulfstream was setting world time to climb records in a 4/SP and during one of the tests they went up to FL540. They said it went up there pretty good and still was climbing fairly good, at light weight of course. So, how high do you think a 4 or 5 would go? What kind of mach #'s would it make up there? What do you think the climb rate would be? Or would ITT be a limiting factor on anything less than a brand new engine. I dont want any flight sim X answers. And yes I am aware of all the risks up there before you all chime about how crazy it is up there or something.

  1. Well, I hope it was test pilots that took it to FL540...because on the GIV the maximum altitude is FL450...and  the GV is FL510....makes me go....hmmmmmm....I'll have to look that one up....and the mach numbers arent different...if its maximum mach is .89....thats it...no matter the altitude...you would be lucky to get that probably...
