Question:

ATV Problem?

I have a 2004 Yamaha Blaster. The power started stuttering a little and I was low on engine oil. I figured that that was the problem. (Plus I needed to fill it anyway.) It hasn't been filled since I bought it used 3 weeks ago, and I don't know what kind was in it before. I added some brand of 10w-40 motor oil and now it stalls if I'm sitting still even after a little riding. Then it started to smoke in the front area. Needless to say I quit riding for the day.

I'm going to drain the oil tomorrow and get the right stuff this time.

Anyways, my question is: Is the problem said above the result of mixing the old and new oils? I think I added the wrong kind as well. =/

  1. Is this a four stroke? They used to be two strokes.if it is you may have damaged the engine.

  2. i think its doing that cause u put the wrong kind in it but im not really sure

  3. if its a 2 stroke and you added 4 stroke oil to it you may have damaged the engine, those have to have 2 stroke oil added to them, the smoke you was seeing was coming from around the engine probably where the exhaust comes out of the engine, you will need to change the plug in it also, and lets hope it didn't hurt anything in it,make sure its actually getting the oil mixed when it goes in the tank other wise the oil pump may be out on it,when you re-start it don't rev it for a few minutes, let it run on its own to see what it does, hopefully it wont lock up on you, good luck with it.
