ok so ive changed the spark plug changed the crank case oil went over every wire with a meter checked the battery with a meter checked the fuse checked the tether strap looked at the kill switch and it still wont start it cranks but just feels like it too short on power to really start. I've talked to petes cycle they cant figure it out. I was riding it through puddles and up alot of hill climbs and it kept loosing power then comming back but then it just died in the woods and havent gotten it to start since then. cant find anything electrical faulty. any one have a suggestion on what it could be. i think its just something dumb and easy because we've covered the hard parts lol

  1. It's either not getting fuel. Not getting fire. Or mechanical failure ie (the rings are shot and needs a rebuild). First check the fire. Put an extra spark plug not actually in the head but put the plug wire on it and make sure it's touching the motor enought to be grounded on the back side. Turn the motor over and see if there are any sparks between the gap on the plug. If not you've just got to trace it down through the electrical system. If there is check the fuel. make sure there is gas in it and the gas is turned on. Sorry just making sure. if so turn it over with the choke on and then take the plug out to see if it's wet. If not start checking the gas hose, filter, and carbs. If It is wet check the air filter. If all else fails take it to a shop. Good luck man.

  2. hey do what trav said but try this .drain gas at fuel line were the hose plugs into the carb if gas comes out ok let it drain if not thers your problem .now if gas flows drop your carb bowls i found that if you look in the bowl could be gunk if not fill up with high octane gas take plugs out trash them buy new and ask for hottest plug spray starting fluid in plug hole gust a squrt.hay chek point cover plat or if you dont have points you could still have water in that cover causing crossing in firing it will still show spark but be weak if so clean;dry;replace cover seal

  3. First of all what kind of ATV is it. Sport ATV's need valves adjusted at least twice a year. If it loses power and comes back, I thing it is the valves. You said it is about a year old, so it is broken in enough, you need to get them adjusted. They are very tempermental and will not start very well if they are out of adjustment. I would look for another cycle shop if they didnt even suggest that. It sounds like you checked everything you could, and for the poster about piston and rings, that should not be the problem. Also, be sure to keep the air filter clean. Although this is probably not the problem, it is cheap insurance. Run soapy water over it, and buy some filter oil to keep it oiled.
