Question:

AU Falcon stop light switch?

I have a problem with my Ford AU Falcon II Wagon, the stop light switch on the brake pedal keeps needing replacing. Does anyone have any idea on how to replace one DIY rather than pay Ford 170.00 to sort it out? If anyone knows of any manuals please let me know.

  1. Its a common problem with AU2 falcons. Other hints that your brake switch is on the way out are..
    - eye level stoplight illuminates when you pull the regular lamps out (insufficient wattage getting to all three stoplamps)
    - cruise control problems, if fitted. E.g. cruise does not disengage properly when you press the brake pedal, or will switch on (CRUISE shows on instrument panel) but cannot SET or RESUME using wheel mount switches.

Replacement part costs about $48 at a ford dealer.

    Simple enough to replace yourself.
