Hi,

I'm 16 years old and i race a minicup Car which is a half scale NASCAR Nextel (sprint) Cup car. I am looking to move up in division next season but i have no more money, no space, and not enough sources to work on the car with me. I am ultimately looking for a team to find me so i can catch i ride with them! I am asking for some advice to get my name out there to some of the Racing teams to notice me. I think one thing i have to offer to them which gives me an advantage to being noticed is my website (www.Igoracing.com). Any ideas for ways to help get noticed??! THANKS IN ADVANCED!

  1. Go and hang out at all the race tracks within a reasonable distance and talk to anyone and do anything that keeps you meeting people involved in racing. Race anything and everything you can. This approach worked for Smoke. Volunteer to join a team and help them out with whatever they need, even if you don't get paid for it.  Maybe they won't support you financially, but they might return the favor and help you work on your car. A lot of drivers worked menial jobs for teams before going racing with them (Bobby Labonte is one). And print up some business cards like Card Edwards did. It's not a guarantee, but it can't hurt.

  2. You know Carl Edwards gave out business cards.  Some families have picked up and moved to Mooresville, North Carolina I guess it's how far  you want to go and how bad you want it.

  3. if i were you i would try to find events near tracks that a nascar race is being raced at on the same weekend. it probably wouldn't hurt to try and run events at tracks owned by some of the drivers, tony stewarts, ken schraders, and anyone else involved in nascar.

  4. Get out and talk to people at the tracks.  Yes there are a select few that are good enough to be approached about a ride but most of us have to go out and earn it!  Take Carl Edwards for example as good as he was coming up through the dirt track circuit he would go around and hand out business card w/his bio and contact info.  10 cup wins and a busch champioship later I guess it worked out ok.

  5. Go on some of the drivers websites most of them have a place for sponcership info for up in coming drivers. Someone has a profile on Infieldparking.com called young racers I believe they can give you some advice also

  6. My advice is this, thumb through an issue of National Speed Sport News. Realize that there are already a bunch of race drivers out there also looking for opportunities and rides, many with much more experience than you. The best way to get noticed is by winning and running up front. Beyond that, just keep looking for opportunities, knocking on doors, and talking to people in the sport.
