AV Truth I have a question?

I have the Samsung 1400 hooked up to a dvd/receiver unit. It decodes all the formats. It is an upscaled dvd converter with speakers (one of them deals) Because of that I have a coaxial input as well as many rca audio inputs and one HDMI to go to the tv for upscaling. Obviously I do not use the upscale anymore because of the Samsung BR. My question is can I get uncompressed audio by simply hooking up an rca cable from my Samsung player to the phillips all in one? I do not have the old standard 5.1 setup labeled by channel inputs. (lt,rt,c,r,sub) There is the coaxial digital available if you would want to use that and about 4 audio ins that would use RCA cables..If I plug in an RCA cable to the audio out running from Samsung to the Phillips will I get uncompressed audio? That is where I am confused. Like I said, the 5.1 rca setup is not there. However if I use RCA AUDIO from the Samsung to the Phillips will this give me the sound I am looking for?

  1. The only way to get uncompressed audio is via HDMI to an HDMI 1.3 receiver that will take the bistreams and decode them to the uncompressed audio soundtracks.

  2. the digital coax (orange) will give you an uncompressed digital signal. the only question I would have is if there is a digital audio in on the all in one? if the answer is no then you are out of luck.
