AV on fairly old TV without remote?

I have a fairly old TV that I need to switch to AV mode, but the remote for it is broken. I have been using the volume and channel buttons on the television itself, since the remote for my more modern television does not work with the older one. How may I switch the older TV to AV mode without the remote?

The sad news is that you probably can't do it. Some televisions, especially older models, will switch from the tv to AV mode when you cycle through the channels and get to the end (such as if you were going down from 10, after you got past channel 2, it might switch to AV). Others don't do this. So if this doesn't work, and if there is no TV/Video or similar button on the TV, you're kind of stuck. I'd suggest a cheap universal remote.
