Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that selling captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 will not be a cause of concern for the club and that they will survive without him.
The manager also revealed that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, despite the clubs agreeing a fee. He said that the player will stay with the squad if a deal is not finalized, but if the defender leaves White Hart Lane, life will still go on.
The Portuguese stunned many when he accepted an offer from QPR this week for the player who he himself had handed over the captaincy in the summer, following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859’s retirement.
However, a move to Loftus Road may be in doubt after Villas-Boas admitted yesterday that the defender had failed to reach an agreement with the West London club. With one week to go till the transfer window shuts down, there is still time for the player to seek a move to another club.
Dawson was left out of the squad that travelled to Tyneside last week to face Newcastle for Spurs’ Premier League opener. The manager said that Dawson is just a ‘victim’ of squad depth and that he only put the player up for sale because the club has the ideal number of centre backs.
“I don’t think it’s a gamble,” Villas-Boas said. “We have four good players, it’s already enough.”
“Dawson is an excellent leader of this dressing room, an excellent player, an English international.”

“When I spoke to the player we had a good conversation because http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 has, obviously, high expectations to play.”

“What I told him is I can’t promise any player that he will be playing in two weeks’ time, three weeks’ time, four weeks’ time. I don’t know how it happens.”
Dawson may feature in today’s home game against West Brom Albion on account of Younes Kaboul's injury. The player is expected to start from the bench, alongside Dutch start Rafael Van Der Vaart, who has also been linked with a move away from the club. However, Villas-Boas insists that he intends to hold on to the player, despite interest from German club Hamburg.
