Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is delighted with the team’s progression in the Europa League and their form in the Premier League.
Spurs cruised to a 3-1 victory over Greek side Panathinaikos on Thursday night, which ensures their place in the final 32 knockout round. The team finished second in their group behind Lazio, and have qualified at the expense of Panathinaikos.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is determined to win the Europa League with the club, and has given it great preference this season. The Portuguese tactician last won the tournament with Porto two seasons ago, and believes that it is a major
tournament and needs to be shown more respect in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Villas-Boas’ approach lies in direct contrast to former manager Harry Redknapp, who had not given the tournament much importance and normally fielded out a weak team. He had gone as far as to label the tournament as ‘punishment’ for teams who failed to qualify
for the Champions League.
Tottenham did have to endure a few nervy moments before they sealed the win on Thursday.  They looked to be cruising after Emmanuel Adebayor’s first half opener, but the visitors got a goal back. However, the hosts took the lead once again when Clint Dempsey
forced an own goal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 shortly added another to make it 3-1.
Villas-Boas is delighted with the team’s progression and is confident that they can go all the way and lift the trophy come the end of the season. Speaking to the press, he said:
“It was great for the lads to go through after they way we’ve embraced this competition. The ultimate objective was to reach first place, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 did well. We’re happy to go through.”
“We had a good first half, had control of possession, created opportunities and had a chance for 2-0 that hit the post. When they equalized it brought a bit more emotion into the game.”
“They had a big chance at 1-1, but it would’ve been unfair if we had lost. It was a good solid performance.”
Tottenham next focus their attention on Sunday’s away trip to Goodison Park to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 in the Premier League, and will be hoping to secure their fourth successive win in the league.
