New Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has hailed the signings of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen following his appointment as Tottenham manager.
The Portuguese made his first signing of the summer as he acquired Gylfi Sigurdsson from German outfit Hoffenheim. Sigurdsson impressed with his winter loan spell at Swansea City last season. The Icelandic international bagged 7 goals in his short time with
the Swans and started attracting the interest of many top clubs.
Former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers wanted to take Sigurdsson with him to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, but the player snubbed the Reds and instead opted for Tottenham, stating silverware and success as the reason for his decision.
Villas-Boas’s second signing of the summer was highly-rated Belgian centre-half http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 from Dutch club Ajax. Vertonghen has captained his former side to two back-to-back Eredivisie titles and is known for his excellent reading of the game, physicality
and aerial threat in the opposition box.
Villas-Boas has been full of praise for the defender and is thrilled to have finally signed him.
"Jan has not [been] through the Premier League experience but he is a player that has a very, very solid career at Ajax and became Ajax captain.”
"He’s a central defender who likes to come out with the ball to organise the team. He is quick and aggressive so I think he has the right ingredients to become a top player in the Premier League."
Villas-Boas also praised Sigurdsson and talked about his attacking qualities.
"Gylfi is of course player who exploded last season with Swansea in the last six months."

The Portuguese manager hailed the Icelandic international’s exceptional passing abilities, long-range shots at goal and his free-kick taking expertise.
Villas-Boas is confident that the new pair will prove to be a success at White Hart Lane and believes they offer long term solutions for the squad.
