Tottenham however finally kick started their season off with an away win and Villas-Boas will be hoping for more of the same performances.
The game was sure to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams eager to secure their first win and going for the kill. Tottenham enjoyed most of the possession, and were incisive and quick with their one touch passing.

Hal Robson-Kanu managed to grab a consolation goal for the home side, but Spurs emerged as the deserved victors. Tottenham supporters were ecstatic, and the delight was visible all around.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Villas-Boas said:
"We were chasing this win for quite some time," he admitted. "And it is important for everybody. Hopefully we can shoot on from now on.”
“I thought we looked bright, confident and played some very good football.”
"It was important for Gareth, he scored in the international break and he has scored again now, and it has improved his confidence.”
"I am happy for him and happy for Defoe to find the back of the net again. I am happy for the team in general, everybody was very committed towards getting our first win.”
