Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has played down speculation linking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 with a move to Real Madrid. The Portuguese backtracked on comments made yesterday where he admitted that the Welshman might leave next season.
The Welsh winger was the star of the match as Tottenham managed a 2-1 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 during midweek. The player assisted one and scored the other as Tottenham secured their second successive win of the month after a string of 3 consecutive losses
in the Premier League.
The club had a poor early November, but have now returned to what Villas-Boas labelled as winning ways.
The manager was asked about the player’s future after the game against Liverpool, and he admitted that if a hefty offer is made for Bale’s services, Tottenham will have to consider selling him. The player has been increasingly linked with a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011
with Real Madrid leading the chase for his signatures.
Bale is understood to be also eager on a move away from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 at the Bernabeu. However, Villas-Boas has now backtracked from his statements and clarified his comments, saying that he never admitted such a thing and all
talk linking the player with a transfer is merely speculation.
Speaking to reporters, the Portuguese said:
“Gareth is performing at a tremendously high level at the moment, along with many of his teammates, making a vital contribution as we seek to narrow the gap on the leaders. Like all of our key players, Gareth is on a long-term contract as we continue to
build for the future and his progression will be of benefit to our team.”
“He is an important part of our future and we have no intention of letting any of our top players go.”
The manager was in a delightful mood after seeing his side secure two straight wins in the Premier League. Villas-Boas admitted that his team had suffered a significant dip in form, and had warned them to pick up their performances prior to the 3-1 and 2-1
victories over West Ham and Liverpool respectively.
Spurs next travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on the weekend, and will be eying a hat-trick of victories as they continue their quest for a top 4 finish.
