Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has warned off former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to stay away from midfielder Scott Parker and defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 and forget about signing the duo in January for QPR.
Redknapp is understood to be interested in a number of January signings to help Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 battle relegation. The Hoops appointed the former Spurs boss after Mark Hughes was sacked following a dreadful run in the league.
QPR had failed to win a single game under Hughes, despite signing a number of high profile players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julio-Cesar-c19961. The West London club only just recently won its first Premier League game against Fulham last weekend.
This marks the first win for the club in 17 league games, and it is understood that Redknapp is keen to build on this development by making purchases in the January transfer window.
The manager has publicly stated his desire to bring two players to Loftus Road, and hinted at Dawson and Parker, who were his favourites during his tenure at White Hart Lane. However, Villas-Boas has slammed the door shut on all possible January deals and
has warned Redknapp to stay away from his players.
The Portuguese said:
“We are not looking to let Parker or Dawson go in January, that’s for sure. It is hard for me to say what QPR’s plans for January are, but Harry obviously knows these players well and if he has to add to his squad, he will certainly look here, but it is
not something we will consider. A loan deal is not a possibility either.”
Scott Parker recently returned from a long term Achilles injury by making his first appearance of the season against Swansea City on Sunday. However, Villas-Boas has hinted that is may still be too early for the player to start a league game as he looks
to help the midfielder get back to full fitness.
Tottenham also welcome back defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who had been out of the side on account of a knee injury. The return of both players will significantly boost Villas-Boas’ options on the bench and give Spurs more firepower in their bid for a top
4 finish.
