Question:

AVG 8.0 says that explorer.exe, and taskmgr.exe are viruses?

Ive been having problems lately with AVG. The Residential Shield has been trying to block programs that are supposedly viruses, but they obviously arent. It wouldn't let me open task manager, and when I virus scan it tells me that explorer.exe and other programs I've trusted for months are suddenly malicious and should be deleted. The first time I scanned when it told me that explorer.exe was a virus I didnt realize it said that and sent it to the virus vault. I restarted my computer and, as usual when explorer.exe is missing, the task bar and icons wouldnt show up. I ran task manager and used it to run AVG and restore explorer.exe.

Now I'm having problems running programs like firefox because Residential Shield tells me its a virus.

Any relief on any of these problems?

  2. First do an online scan and clean with http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html AND http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

Now it's time to replace that miserable insecurity software that you use; download the installers for

browser - http://www.opera.com/ - use this instead Firefox, it's faster and more secure

    antivirus - http://www.avast.com/

    antispyware - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

    ................. - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

    firewall - http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

They are all the best in their category and FREE.

Unplug the internet line, uninstall the AVG junk and install these (if necessary in safe mode) one by one with each necessary reboot done.

Reconnect the line and update them (Spybot has it manual).

    That's all.
