AVG 8 Vs Avira Anti Vir ?

Question

Up until today I protected my pc with AVG 8 and Spybot Search and Destroy combined with the default Windows firewall. (I have a lap top running Windows XP ) But lately AVG 8 has developed a very annoying problem. The updates keep failing, and the only way I can get them is to keep uninstalling and re installing AVG which is a pain in the **** So I've decided to ditch AVG and try Avira Anti Vir Personal instead. Can anyone tell me how Avira compares to AVG 8 and if it will work with Spybot Search and Destroy without conflicting?

well I used avg up until the recent problem with there updates after the first one with anti virus 2008 malware was released the same day avg had its bin update error I said forget this and switched over recently CNET has released a review on it

but i can tell you from my own personal experience with it, it is good It found two Trojans on my machine that avg didn't find or avast i use it and recommend it  and i have spybot and it doesn't seem to bother it

Edit: on another note here is a link to a free firewall i use much better then the windows firewall this has two way protection windows only has one way means it only scans incoming traffic and doesn't look at outgoing traffic any way here is the link

remove avg ,and spybot ...install pc tools threatfire ..#1 by pc mag ,and free, get windows defender ,and keep your firewall settings .. youll need to go to search after that and type in avg ...delete all files and then search spybot and delete those too ..you can sit back and relax now...if the word root is in the program id leave it alone ..threatfire destroys root kits ..sorry to keep editing , youve got xp its self preserving  .microsoft made it that way.. there aint no bugs on me...

and get youself a good firewall ...........................windows is a joke ... avira 97% detection rate ...avg 82% detection rate .... been using avira years now .... is great .....avg is also a joke ..........
