  1. I had the same problem a week ago. After running updates for like 50 times (even though it was failing) and some reboots at the end of the day, it went away.

It is a bug in the Free AVG 8.0 version and their own automatic update will fix it somehow.

You are still protected, just run the updates manually 2-3 times a day (even it fails) and shut down your computer at least once a day and restart it.

    Good luck!

  2. Mine is saying that too, I'm just going to try again tomorrow, maybe it is just a problem on their end, if it is happening to us both at the same time?

  3. Do the following:

    1) go to AVG Download page  http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...

    2) make a folder on your desktop called it AVG

    3) download AVI: 270.6.4

    4) download IAVI: / 1616

    5) move the downloaded files to the folder you made called AVG

    6) launch AVG by clicking on the symbol on your task bar.

    7) select the menu tools -> update from directory

    8) select the folder called AVG where you put the downloads.

The Update will then work until the next update comes out.

Note:  This just updates your computer to the latest files.  It does not correct the missing bin file error.

  4. The problem is on AVG's end.  Best advice...just sit tight and wait for AVG to correct the problem.  Btw, the bin file in questions is missing....missing on their server!!!  I knew I should have renewed my subscription with Nod.
