Question:

AVG anti-virus... it asks to enter a scan schedule time. What time should I pick?

I just installed a free AVG anti-virus program. When I set a scan time for AVG anti-virus program, I suppose it should be a time when my computer is normally in use... or should it be a time when my computer is not in use?

If it is the first, will it disturb my activity on line while it is scanning according to that schedule?

If it is the second, how can it scan my computer if the computer is not turned on?

  1. set a middle of the night time. then once a week or so, leave it on to do it when you are not using the computer. it will slow down your other stuff, depends on how many files etc on how much, but some people find it a dramatic slow down

  2. When you go to do a scan i'm almost sure there is a box

that you can check to turn off the computer after scan.

This used to be located in bottom left corner.

If this is still there it's the best option to use as opposed

to the scheduled scanning.Have a look anyway.

You may have to start scan for the box to appear.

You just go to bed and it turns the computer off.

  3. hi there i used to use avg for a while but in the last yr ive had it on my comp andmy comps been acting mad so i uninstalled it and now use nod32 best antivirus out there it gets to the root of the virus or worm and deletes ..dont use avg its p**s.+ if you have it set to run at a certain time and ur comp isnt on it will automaticly start when u switch ur comp on .

  4. normally use that why you see right away if anything is wrong

  5. I've been using the Pro Version of AVG for about 5 years now.. I started with the FREE version. Yes your computer has to be on for it to check for updates and scan your computer. It's a great program. I plan to stick with it for a long time....

    Virus free last 5 years.

  6. Sorry i don't use AVG use advast instead it's much better and is easier to use.

  7. You should choose the schedule when your computer isn't so busy and at least once a week. Of course, the computer should be on to run the schedule scanning

  8. pick a time in the middle of the night like 2:30AM so it won't interfere with your work

  9. Just pick the second one. It can scan even when the computer isn't turned on.

  10. Well, I have AVG and I just use a time that I'll be on the computer when I won't be running too many processes. A scan takes up a lot of CPU memory and will slow down most computers, so set it for when  you are on the computer, but you'll only be listening to music or on a messenger, so it shouldn't slow it down too much. Or you could just disable this setting by un-checking the box at the bottom, this will mean that you could just scan the computer when it's needed or when it's convenient. You do need your computer on, but not the monitor or the speakers, or the printer or anything like that.

  11. You should pick a time when your computer is on and it wont disrupt your activity online cause it just hides away in the toolbar at the bottom right of your screen...i picked 4pm cause I'm always on at that time every day..good luck
