  1. its ok it was just hic - cup on their part, all better now

  2. See my answer that I gave to "lindybug" a few minutes ago reagrding the AVG 8.0

    Best annti virus

    AVG 8.0

PC-Tools Spyware Doctor free from google pack

    They all work well together

  3. I use Norton. A lot of people say it uses too much of the computer's resources. I've never had that problem from it. You can find a lot of security programs to try at http://netsecuritycentral.com

  4. Here is an in-depth set of solutions for all:

The solution/answer below, originally posted by another user, WILL work.  NEVERTHELESS - I suggest that you all wait for AVG to fix this problem, because applying the following solution creates a small risk of program-version mismatches and future hassles which may result in your having to reinstall AVG (which is a pain). The AVG team will certainly discover their server glitch when their analysts get back to work this Sunday or Monday morning!   For the impatient, here is a more detailed version of a previous solution:

    1) Go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat... (response will be slow - the whole world is trying to get there, so have patience!)

    2) Create a temporary directory such as AVGtemp on your desktop (where you won't forget to get rid of it)

    3) Download AVI: 270.6.4 to the AVGtemp folder (3rd update available under the Updates table)

    4) Download IAVI: 1616 to the AVGtemp folder (4th update available under the Updates table)

NOTE! These were the update version numbers at the time automatic updates failed ("missing .bin file" message).  Sub-version numbers may have changed since, or the problem may have since been solved by AVG!

    5) Right-click your AVG tray icon at the bottom right of Windows and select Open AVG User Interface

    6) On the AVG menu , select Tools then "Update from directory..."

    7) Select the AVGtemp directory where you manually downloaded the files above

    8) When the guys at AVG fix the problem (probably by tomorrow if not later today), get rid of the AVGtemp folder to avoid confusion

Best advice - sit tight and do nothing, the update can wait till AVG gets their act together.

  5. 1 - Start up AVG,click Update Now.

2 - The list of updates is shown in Popup, click on the more information link.A list of updates will be shown.

3 - Click on and save all updates in a file except the last one - http://downloadfree.avg.com/update/u7iav... - because this is causing the problem.

4 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates.Install these and AVG should be working properly again.

  6. Had the same problem this morning, just tried the update again and its working fine.

  7. Don't do anything! It's a problem at AVG's side. The problem should rectify itself shortly.

  8. I woke up and tried to update avg... the problem has been solved by avg.. didn't have to change anything is the menus...

  9. I am having the same problem, everyone that is using AVG is also having the exact same problem, it is a bug that AVG is going thru and hopefully will be fix tomorrow or later this week.

    Good Luck.
