Question:

AVG vs. Avast?

Ok I'm getting sick of AVG's c**p. It used to just download the virus definitions daily, and although I had to watch it, it wasn't too much of a pain. Then it started wanting me to update it every couple of days. It would pop up a box in the corner every hour or say saying there were security problems until I would finally go thru the steps to manually install the update. Now, the regular updates want me to restart the computer too (which I'm NOT going to do). I would ignore it, but it keeps popping up warning boxes that don't go away until I close them.

So I'm thinking of switching to Avast. Anybody used both? Is it better or worse?

  1. AVG - sucks.

I currently use Avast Home Edition and happy with it.

Also, I can recommend NOD32 - it is good too, but I don't like the design.

  2. AVG is probably the most decent one. But, i can get avast any time i want. I have the keygen for it, so if i have some reflective problems with AVG i can just switch to avast.

And having both anti viruses is NOT a good idea, what this will conduct is disabling other anti-viruses and making your security lack.

but in my honest opinion i think both of these protectors are very good and actually do block very harmful software from harming your computer.

  3. Iv used both. Avast is very good although it also comes up with a box everytime you start up your pc. But this is a very minor annoyance compared to avg's stuff. The box goes away after about 5 seconds and doesnt acutally bother me at all. When you go online another box will come up to say that Avast has updated itself. This also goes away after about 5 secs. You have to register after 30 days but this takes about 5 mins and then you never have to worry about it again. Overall i think that Avast is much better than AVG

  4. I used avast but it is a total waste of time mate, absolute c**p. Avg is S****y but its 100% better trust me

  5. AVAST IS THE BEST / STAY AWAY FROM SUCKISH AVG ...THE DETECTION RATE OF AVG IS 82% = A COMPLETE JOKE...

AVG SLOWS DOWN YOUR COMPUTER JUST LIKE NORTON...UPDATES FAIL ALL THE TIME WITH AVG AND AVAST UPDATES AUTOMATICLY SMOOTHLY ON STARTUP.....ALSO THE REAL-TIME PROTECTION OF AVG SUCKS....YOU WOULD THINK IT'S NOT ACTIVE BUT AVAST DOES THE JOB,IT EVEN PICKS UP VIRUSES WHEN YOU USE P2P LIKE LIMEWIRE.AVAST WILL PICK UP A VIRUS BEFORE THE DOWNLOAD FINISHES BUT AVG WILL LET IT IN AND THEN IT HAS A LOW CHANCE OF DELETING IT WHEN YOU OPEN IT.

SO GET AVAST AND STAY AWAY FROM USELESS ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE LIKE AVG

  6. Well if you're a complete idiot and cant use a interface with more than 5 or 6 buttons than go with AVG. Avast has a higher detection rate and I am very pleased with it.

  7. I use AVAST.

Its update cycle it totally painless - except it announces it has done updates in an irritating voice. It even updates the main program silently, only prompting you if a system restart is needed. It scores higher in tests than AVG on effectiveness, and it has several virus updates a day (daily updates are simply NOT sufficient these days as new threats spread incredibly quickly).

  8. AVG is lighter than AVAST but AVG has a bad habit of updating daily and reporting every .exe file as a virus...

i think u better switch to AVAST or bitdefender

  9. avg its way better

  10. none of them are good. try to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do a full scan. it's free

  11. any AV in the world will definetly ask you for updates... but if you want to go for less restarts use  Avira antivirus.. available from

  12. You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  13. Avast Home is better than AVG and it is less annoying.

It is a very effective anti-virus program.
