AVG won't get rid of a Trojan Virus?

Basically i have a trojan virus on my computer, and I have AVG Anti-Virus. I did a scan, and at the end a pop-up appears and says "Do you really want to restart your computer" or something similar. And in the overview it says a re-boot is needed to destroy the virus. I did this, and did another scan to see if it is safe, but it is still there! Anyway to get rid off it before it does some serious damage.
