AVI burning...?

Question

Ok so I just purchased a DVD burner for the purpose of burning all of my AVI, Divix , etc.. movie files. I have no idea how to do it. Can someone please give me a complete walk through. For instance I would like to take my Harold and Kumar avi and make it to where I can watch it on my home dvd player. Thanks !!
