AVI file playing audio only?

Question

i sent a file through a transfer. now it took an hour and when it finished, he opened it up on Windows Media. it plays nothing but the audio. Any ideas or do you know something i could tell him to download (media player, etc.) to help make this work?

You could install VLC Player, but I found it quite difficult to operate.

There is a player that can do what VLC can, but in a much easier way.

Gomplayer is also free and can play all file types, incl.  .avi, .mov.,divx

.flv and many more

Download a new player called VLC player. You can download it free at http://www.videolan.org

If the video plays at your end, ask your friend to update his codecs. Ask him to use something line MPCstar player, he can download the latest version here: http://download.mpcstar.com/achive/mpcst...

Be warned though that it is a 30MB setup file, if he has torrent tool then gr8, if on a dial-up, ask him to get a BB connection.
