AVI to MP4 or Iphone Converter for mac?

Question

I have some AVI format movies I would like to convert to Iphone format but I dont know what to buy. I have tried a few trials but so far all of them are not in sync with audio.

I am using a mac so Id prefer a software compatible with mac but I am open to windows suggestions as well.

xilisoft so far was the best in video quality but the audio was not sync.
