It depends on individual company. Some companies take AWS as the bonus for the workers so that the employers can save on the variable bonuses. Futhermore it is not compulsory for employers to pay AWS at the end of the year, some companies pay AWS when it is near to the Lunar New Year period and the employers treat it as AWS
