AZ Alkmaar are strong candidates for the title, says http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AFC-Ajax-c38228’s Frank de Boer – Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has claimed that AZ Alkmaar are strong contender for the Eredivisie title. The outfit from Alkmaar have made an impressive start to the 2011/12 season, and the Amsterdammers coach has acknowledged openly.
The Dutch mentor believes that the Alkmaar have a good squad and admitted that they do not enjoy the liberty of big stars but they are fighting to compete for the title.
“AZ have a great team on the bench and look very good. They are playing with a lot of dynamism and exude confidence. They may not have the biggest stars but they fight for each other”, De Boer said while talking to journalists.
The outfit from Alkmaar are currently occupying the top spot on the league table. They have an impressive overall record of 8 played, 7 won and 1 lost.
On the other hand, De Boer’s men are currently sitting fourth in the Eredivisie table, six points adrift of the league leaders.
The Amsterdam giants will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 in the upcoming encounter at Amsterdam Arena on Saturday, October 15. The Amsterdammers coach admitted that AZ visiting Amsterdam as table toppers is a rare event.
“It's not often that AZ comes to Amsterdam as league leaders. They are candidates for the title, that's for sure”, De Boer concluded.
The Dutch mentor faces selection headaches for the upcoming match against AZ. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Nicolai Boilesen are sidelined due to injuries while Gregory van der Wiel is suspended following his red card in the last league encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119.
However, reports indicate that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183 has returned to training after recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to play against the league leaders in front of the home crowd.
De Boer would be hoping that his side stage a good show and manage to secure a result in this encounter in order to close gap on the league’s frontrunners.
