The 18-year-old has alerted top European clubs including Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Everton after claiming that he could leave the Eredivisie outfit this summer.
AZ Alkmaar young midfielder, Adam Maher, has impressed many with his promising displays in the 2011/12 season.
The 18-year-old, who started his professional career in the 2010/11 season at AFAS Stadion, has thus far represented the Alkmaar outfit in 35 matches, netting five goals while amassing a bagful of assists.
His good performances gathered numerous scouts of elite European clubs in Alkmaar including the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Although, many would have advised the teenager to gain more first-team experience in the highest echelons of Dutch football, Maher’s recent statement has fuelled speculation about an impending departure of the young midfielder
in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Dutch-Moroccan midfielder is of the view that he has made the necessary developments to his game and is ready to take the next step in his career for pastures greener.
“I think I am ready to take the next step. I am open to a summer move. I know I would be playing a lot of games at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571, but I am now a lot stronger. I am willing to join a top club”, Maher was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The gifted midfielder went on to admit that there are several top flight clubs interested in signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window, though, the youngster denied naming any.
“Well, I want to keep the names with me for now. But I can assure that there are many and there are several clubs where I can successfully fit in”, Maher added.
Maher has an ongoing contract with AZ that runs until the summer of 2015. The club management does not intend to let go of their prized asset this summer. However, reports indicate that an offer in the region of five million Euros
could prove to be a too tempting bid to turn down.
Pundits suggest that the Dutch U-21 International should at least play another full season with the Alkmaar outfit before taking the next step in his career.
