AZ Alkmaar’s Gertjan Verbeek and Niklas Moisander resume friendly ties – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from AFAS Stadion confirm that AZ Alkmaar head coach, Gertjan Verbeek, has resumed friendly ties with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Niklas-Moisander-c27919. The 25-year-old was utterly disappointed and outraged following the club’s decision to hold on to him in the recently concluded
summer transfer window despite PSV Eindhoven expressing their desire to lure the stopper to Philips Stadion.
The Boeren were in search of a defender in the summer transfer window and had set their sights on the Finnish International. However, the Eindhoven giants failed to lure the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 captain away from AFAS Stadion and eventually acquired the services of Timothy
Derijck from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 in the end.
Verbeek explained in an interview that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281’s offer for the stopper was far below the asking price of AZ, which forced his side to stop the 25-year-old from leaving this summer.
“The difference between the asking price and PSV’s offer was too great, that ended any further negotiations”, Verbeek said while talking to the media.
The Finnish stopper arrived at AFAS Stadion in the summer of 2008 after making well over 50 appearances for FC Zwolle. The highly-rated central defender has provided rock solid defence for the Alkmaar outfit since his arrival and has become one of the vital
players in the squad.
Recent reports have confirmed that Moisander and Verbeek have resumed friendly ties and the central defender would be captaining the side in their upcoming encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 Arnhem.
The centre-back had earlier expressed his displeasure with the club’s decision to prolong his stay and revealed that the outfit from Alkmaar should have considered letting him go.
“I still think they should have let me go. I am not at all happy with how all the things went. You never know as a player that how many opportunities you are going to get afterwards. To me that is no longer possible, despite assurances from AZ to work next
time. I will only blame Earnest Stewart and Gertjan Verbeek”, Moisander was quoted as saying to the media.
The Finnish stopper has an ongoing contract with the Alkmaar outfit that runs until the summer of 2014.
