The Belgian ace played a full half for AZ’s reserve team against De Graafschap reserves after spending three months on the sidelines.

ankle on August 28.
The midfielder c*m striker played a full half and troubled the opposition with his fluent passing and pinpoint crosses coupled with his impressive movement upfront. The AZ reserves team took full advantage of his impressive performance and cruised to a comfortable
1-0 victory by the end of 90 minutes.
Martens had been due to return to the pitch last week. However, he picked up a slight knock to his thigh, which prolonged his time on the sidelines.
Dennis Haar, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 reserve team head coach, revealed that the winger played impressively and asserted that the Belgian ace looks perfectly fit.
“He's come through it well and has no more problems. You can clearly see that his creativity really adds something to the team”, Haar was quoted as saying to AZ’s official website.
Martens arrived at AFAS Stadion in the summer of 2006 after making 22 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370. Since his arrival, the midfield ace has scored 29 goals while providing a bagful of assists in 126 matches.
Before injuring his ankle, the 27-year-old had represented the outfit from Alkmaar in seven matches in all competitions this season. The Belgian International scored three goals and provided a lone assist as well.
Although Martens performed highly in all seven matches, his performance in the 3-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven surpassed the rest. The 27-year-old occupied the central midfield position and remained a constant menace for the Eindhoven giants.
The midfielder’s return to action will certainly boost AZ’s chances of keeping their position at the summit of the league table intact.
