Reports in Dutch media indicate that AZ Alkmaar’s Niklas Moisander has expressed keen interest in taking the next step in his career. The 26-year-old has been pursuing his football career in Netherlands for the last nine years.
The Finnish stopper arrived at AFAS Stadion in the summer of 2008 after making 71 appearances for FC Zwolle. He has provided rock solid defence for the Alkmaar outfit since his arrival and has become a vital player in the AZ back-line.
Moisander was heavily linked with a move away from AFAS Stadion to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven. However, the AZ management refused to let go off their prized asset in the summer transfer market, much to the disappointment of the Finnish stopper.
The 26-year-old has clearly expressed his desire to play in another league, as he has been in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 for the past nine years.
“After this season I have been in the Netherlands nine years. I would love to play in another league. You never know how many chances you get in life”, Moisander was quoted as saying to the media.
The central defender then went on to reveal that this season would be his last and he would love to move away for pastures greener.
“I hope so. This is my fourth season here and I think it would be better for my development if I find a different challenge”, Moisander added.
The Finnish International was far from pleased when his side refused to let him go in the summer transfer window, as PSV were taking keen interest in taking his signature.
Moisander has an ongoing contract with the Alkmaar outfit that runs until the summer of 2014. Although the outfit from Alkmaar want to hold on to their prized asset for long, it seems very unlikely that the 26-year-old would be staying beyond the ongoing
term.
