The 19-year-old has made it clear that he will leave his current side in the upcoming winter transfer window should a good offer comes in.
AZ Alkmaar star midfielder, Adam Maher, has expressed his desire of moving away from AFAS Stadion in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 19-year-old, who has long been linked with a number of elite European clubs including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, AC Milan and Bayern Munich, was tipped to leave the Alkmaar outfit in the summer transfer window earlier this year.
However, the highly talented midfielder somehow stayed put at AFAS Stadion, as the youngster himself wanted to develop his skills further, and the club also did not receive any concrete offer.
With AZ struggling to compete in the highest echelons of Dutch football, the promising youngster has made it clear that he will leave his current side in the upcoming winter transfer market.
“I do not know what clubs will be options, I will wait and see”, Maher was quoted as saying to VI Vandaag.
However, the Moroccan-born Dutch midfielder has insisted that joining a top club in the Dutch top flight would be a good move rather than moving abroad at this point of his career.
“It would be nice to go to a top team in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753”, Maher added.
When asked whether a top team in Eredivisie is Ajax or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281, the 19-year-old replied:
“Maybe.”
AZ would be keen to avoid losing the talented midfielder halfway through the 2012/13 season. However, they would not be able to hold on to their star player’s services if an offer in the region of eight million Euros comes in, especially from either the Amsterdammers of the Eindhoven giants in the upcoming winter transfer market.
Maher has thus far represented the Alkmaar outfit in over 50 league appearances since making his debut in December 2010. He has an ongoing contract at AFAS Stadion that runs until the end of the 2014/15 season.
However, reports confirm that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 management would be offering the youngster a new and improved deal to prolong his stay in Alkmaar, though, it seems very unlikely that the 19-year-old would be putting pen to paper on a new contract.
