On Eredivisie match-day 28, AZ Alkmaar recorded a hard fought 2-2 stalemate against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 Arnhem at GelreDome Stadion on Sunday, April 1. However, the Alkmaar outfit head coach, Gertjan Verbeek, has expressed satisfaction with his side’s draw and insisted that they played brightly throughout the 90 minutes.
“Ultimately, I am satisfied with a draw. We played great and everyone gave his hundred per cent. They gave away an easy goal, but came back strongly and took the lead after the break. But we managed to score the equaliser. All in all, it was a good performance”,
Verbeek said while talking to journalists.
Jozy Altidore’s opener was cancelled out by Guram Kashia’s strike in the 35th minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-van-Ginkel-c23758 took the home side ahead after the break, but Simon Poulsen’s equaliser in the 59th minute secured a point for the Alkmaar outfit.
AZ had to play the final 27 minutes with ten men, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brett-Holman-c8047 received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
Verbeek heaped praise on his side’s performance in the final phase of the game.
“With ten men, we defended impressively and even tried to find the winner. Yet we failed. I think Holman’s second yellow card was harsh”, Verbeek added.
