The Amsterdammers have reportedly set their sights on the Finnish stopper as a perfect replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who is expected to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 this summer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Niklas-Moisander-c27919, has remained one of the most consistent performers at the back in the Dutch top tier this term. His good performances have garnered him interest from Ajax Amsterdam, who are keen to acquire his services in the
upcoming summer transfer market.
The Amsterdammers are in search of a new central defender, who could fill in the boots of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814. The Belgian International has attracted interest from a host of elite European clubs including Manchester City, Newcastle United, Arsenal and AC Milan.
The reigning Eredivisie champions earlier short-listed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600. However, it seems like they have moved their attention to the Finnish International.
Moisander has an ongoing contract at AFAS Stadion that runs until the summer of 2014. However, the Amsterdam giants are confident that they would be able to lure the 26-year-old to Amsterdam Arena before the start of the 2012/13 season.
The Finnish stopper started his professional career at Turun Palloseura in the 2002/03 season. After making 17 appearances for his native club, he moved to the Amsterdammers in the summer of 2004.
However, the highly-rated central defender failed to make a single appearance for the Eredivisie giants during his two-season stay in Amsterdam. He joined FC Zwolle at the start of the 2006/07 season and impressed many in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 with his consistent
performances before moving to AZ in the summer of 2008.
The 26-year-old has thus far represented the Alkmaar outfit in more than 100 matches and is now regarded as one of the best defenders playing in the Dutch top tier.
The AZ management would not like to let go of their prized asset this summer, especially if they manage to qualify for UEFA Champions League next season. An offer in the region of eight million Euros could prove to be an offer too tempting to turn down.
