The 24-year-old opted sat out against Feyenoord Rotterdam due to the birth of his first daughter despite representatives from the Reds being at De Kuip Stadion.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rasmus-Elm-c30628, has insisted that he did not know that Liverpool scouts were present at De Kuip Stadion to watch him on Sunday, April 29.
The 24-year-old opted not to take part in his side’s clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam on Sunday in the wake of his first daugher's imminent birth. Scouts from the Reds reportedly travelled to Rotterdam to watch the Swedish ace in action. However, they were
left disappointed, as the midfielder was absent from action at De Kuip Stadion.
Elm, who has been linked with the Reds for a long time, has made it clear that he will decide about his future after EURO 2012.
“I didn’t know http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 scouts were in the stadium, but if so, too bad for them. I want to play as well as possible and will start thinking about my future after the Euros. When the focus on playing is gone, I can start thinking about my future. I’ve still
got one year left on my contract here at Alkmaar”, the 24-year-old was quoted as saying to the media.
The free-kick specialist, who has been plying his trade at AFAS Stadion since the summer of 2009, has defended his decision of not participating in the match.
“There was no other option for me. End of discussion. There will always be a new match, but not a new first daughter. Everybody can say or think what they want but I wanted to be with my girlfriend and daughter. That is the only good decision. I don’t know
why I’m even standing here to defend myself”, Elm concluded.
The Swedish International has thus far represented the Alkmaar outfit in 81 matches and has managed to net 18 goals along the way. He has an ongoing contract at AFAS Stadion that runs until the end of the 2012/13 season.
However, reports indicate that an offer in the region of eight million Euros would be enough to lure the highly-rated midfielder away from AFAS Stadion this summer.
