The Eredivisie champions have expressed their intentions to lure the Danish left-back to Amsterdam Arena this summer to provide cover for Nicolai Boilesen.
AZ Alkmaar left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Simon-Poulsen-c33562, has expressed his excitement at the prospect of plying his trade at Amsterdam Arena in the 2012/13 season.
Ajax Amsterdam are in search of a new left-back to avoid putting too much pressure on Nicolai Boilesen. The 20-year-old had to sit out most part of the recently concluded season and De Joden’s head coach, Frank de Boer, had to instate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daley-Blind-c9747 or Dico
Koppers at the left-back position.
Despite the duo performing consistently in the absence of Boilesen, De Boer sees them as inadequate cover for the position, and is looking to bring reinforcements in the upcoming summer transfer market.
Poulsen, who has been plying his trade at AFAS Stadion since the summer of 2008, has thus far played close to 100 matches for the Alkmaar outfit. His consistent performances at the left-back position have convinced the Amsterdammers boss that the 27-year-old
would be a perfect addition to the squad.
The Danish International was excited to hear that Ajax are taking keen interest in acquiring his signature this summer, and was all praise for the Eredivisie champions’ style of play.
“To play in the Champions League is a plus. But the style of play - attacking - and the chance of playing is what I find important”, Poulsen was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The former Midtjylland stopper has an expiring contract that runs until the summer of 2012. The club management has reportedly expressed keen interest in prolonging his stay at AFAS Stadion for at least another season. However, the Danish International made
it clear that he does not intend to sign a contract extension and would be leaving the club on a free transfer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 head coach, Gertjan Verbeek, has expressed disappointment on losing the 27-year-old for free, and has stressed that his side will not bring in any player to fill in the shoes for the Danish stopper.
However, the Dutch trainer did hint out that Ragnar Klavan or Giliano Wijnaldum could be playing at the left-back position next term.
