Aamer Sohail criticizes Pakistan government, calls on President to intervene

The former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Aamer Sohail has heavily criticized the government of Pakistan for failing to cope with crisis that has hit Pakistan cricket in the last couple of years. Ever since the appointment
of Ijaz Butt, as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB); Pakistan cricket has been plagued with controversies. Not only has he methodically butchered whatever little was left of Pakistan cricket, Ijaz Butt must also be held accountable for the attack
on the Sri Lankan cricket team that marked the end of international cricket in a cricket starved nation.
Ijaz Butt, promised presidential level security to the Sri Lankan national cricket team, but desperately fell short. During the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 earlier this year, and Pakistan’s tour of England in the summers the national team
hit a new low in its international career spanning almost 5 decades. With allegations of spot fixing, the administration of the PCB failed to handle the crisis properly and found itself cornered after the chairman made some extremely erratic statements against
the England Cricket team.
"The government must realise it [cricket] is not just a sport in Pakistan, a country where there are so many religious, political and other divisions," Sohail told a local TV channel. "In a country where people are facing so many
crises and problems, the government must realise cricket has always served as a unifying factor.”
He asked of the Patron-in-Chief, President Asif Ali Zardari to wake up to the reality and enormity of the crisis. He said, that good governance in cricket resulted from the ability to recognize the potential of cricket to unify
people and give them joy in their lives.
Aamer Sohail served as the director of Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy last year however he quit later on due to differences with the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
He said, that it was the responsibility of the incumbent governing party to act swiftly and make changes where necessary so that the PCB can once again function properly. The PPP government has failed desperately short to take
damage control measures, and the parliamentary committee for sports has screamed their lungs hoarse against the chairman of the PCB but to no avail.
"I am really surprised that a seasoned political party like the Pakistan Peoples Party has still not realised that things are not moving forward with this present set-up and chairman," Aamer Sohail noted.
Sohail was one of the finest cricketers of Pakistan and has been known for being vocal about his opinions. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in all
