Aamer Sohail expects Pakistan to be stronger in Test series against West Indies
Former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aamer-Sohail-c41418, has backed his team to do well in the two-match Test series against West Indies, which will start from today, Thursday, May 12, 2011.
The Men in Green have already won the five-match One Day International (ODI) series by a margin of 3-2.
According to Aamer the team has been doing well in the longest version of the game under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and should be able to overcome a weakened Caribbean team.
However, Aamer stated that the team needed a batting coach. He said, “I don’t understand why the PCB is ignoring the fact that the team needs a batting coach desperately. It doesn’t matter if it’s someone from Pakistan or a foreigner. As long as he gives
the desired results, it’s not a problem.”
Commenting on the performance of Coach Waqar Younis, Aamer said, “He might be a successful and experienced cricketer but you can’t just go out and transfer your experience to players without having a proper coaching background.”
Although Aamer wanted to see his team to claim a whitewash ODI series victory, he was still pleased with the outcome. He expected the young team to be dominant in the Test series.
The former opening batsman said that the pitches in the Caribbean will suite the Pakistan team more than the hosts. There will be less bounce and the wicket will assist spinners, which is a positive sign for the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723.
Aamer pointed out that the visitors have some quality spin bowlers in their line-up, who can make the most of the conditions in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859, in the first Test match today.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 batsmen also like the ball to bounce less, as they are used to playing on same pitches at home.
On the other hand, Aamer also considered the absence of Chris Gayle as a big blow for the Caribbean Kings. The flamboyant opener is currently taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been in terrific form for his franchise, Royal Challengers
Bangalore (RCB).
