Aaqib Javed hopeful of a great future for fast bowling in Pakistan – Cricket News Update

Javed is currently supervising a camp in the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where the top fast bowlers of Pakistan are training.

Aaqib, who himself was one of Pakistan’s leading fast bowlers in the 1990s, feels that the new lot of fast bowlers have the potential to efficiently serve the country in the years to come.
Aaqib is extremely impressed with Faisalabad’s Mohammad Talha, Lahore’s Aizaz Cheema and Karachi’s Sohail http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, and said that all of them can bowl at high speed.
He said, “There’s immense potential in fast-bowling. There must be two qualities in a bowler — have extraordinary pace and the ability to swing the ball. We have several bowlers such as Talha, Khan and Cheema who have the ability to keep Pakistan on top in the department.”

Cheema on the other hand was picked for the Caribbean tour earlier this year but he was later replaced because of fitness issues.
The former Pakistani fast bowler is of the opinion that the game is changing very rapidly and the fast bowlers have to improve their skill level with the new ball as well as the old.
“Bowlers have to focus on conventional swing. I think the overall advantage goes to the new-ball bowlers. However, in terms of reverse swing some pitches can alter the condition of the ball so as to aid bowlers at the death. That’s when they can take advantage and produce some reverse swing,” Aaqib added.
