http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaqib-Javed-c41431 questions Imran Nazir’s place in the team – Cricket News Update
Shocked at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248’s place in the team, who failed to deliver the goods in the mega
event.
The hard-hitting opening batsman made a comeback to the national team after a gap of almost two years. Apart from his match-winning half-century against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions’ cricketer failed to make an impression, not
learning from his mistakes.
Nazir has always been considered as one of the country’s most talented batsmen, with a huge range of strokes under his belt. The right-hander however, even after a struggle of 13 years in international cricket, has miserably failed
to make a mark.
On the other hand, former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 also had a poor tournament, not able to live up to the expectations with both bat and ball.
While expressing his disappointment, the former bowling coach of the Green Shirts slammed both Afridi and Nazir, calling for their omission from the squad permanently. He is not happy that Boom Boom is being regularly picked for the
national team merely on reputation.
"He had scored fastest hundred 16 years back, it's the past and it has nothing to do with the present. I don't understand why Imran Nazir is still there despite previous several unsuccessful comebacks and this is yet another one," said
the former cricketer.
Referring to Nazir, Aaqib strongly thinks that it is foolish to expect a player to perform when he has failed to establish himself in international cricket in almost a dozen years.
"It's been 12 years that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 has been playing around the national team and he's yet to settle. In a player's career, a one-time sacking is enough [for one] to realise but as many as nine comeback [in his case] are still not enough
to learn a lesson," Aaqib added.
A number of cricket experts in the country are of the view that the national selectors should now look to develop some new players, instead of persisting with the tried and tested failures.
