http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaqib-Javed-c41431 slams Pakistan’s approach in the first ODI – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s former fast bowler, Aaqib Javed, has slammed the team management for some mind boggling decisions in the first One Day International (ODI) of the five-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at Bloemfontein and said that they should
have batted first after winning the toss.
On a flat track, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 won the toss and decided to bowl first, much to the surprise of the cricket analysts as the Green Shirts are not considered to be very good when it comes to chasing targets.
The hosts took full advantage of the conditions, posting a massive total of 315 runs on the board. In reply, Pakistan’s batsmen succumbed under pressure and could only manage 190 runs before being dismissed in just the 37th
over of the innings.
While speaking to a television channel in Pakistan, the former bowling coach expressed his disappointment and said that he was shocked when the Pakistan captain invited the Proteas to bat first.
The visitors included four spin bowling options in the playing eleven in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088. If spin was Pakistan’s strength, Aaqib thinks that Misbah and company should have batted first.
He expressed, “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 played poor and disappointing cricket in the 1st ODI. I don't know what Misbah was thinking when he opted to bowl first. When you play four spinners, you can't bowl first. You let the pitch to break up and assist
spinners.”
Pakistan played just two seamers in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037, which was another poor decision by the team management. The former fast bowler believes that the pacers have a huge role to play in the South African conditions, especially
with two new balls at each end.
“It was one of the worst decisions by the team management to play only two pace bowlers. There are two new balls these days and you have to have at least three pacers to utilise these. You can't play defensive cricket in South Africa.
You have to attack and pressurize them,” Aaqib added.
The second ODI is going to be played on Friday at Centurion. Pakistan’s fans would be hoping for an improved performance to square the battle.
