Aaqib Javed, who was previously serving as Pakistan’s bowling coach, has signed a 3-year contract with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) as the head coach of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 team. He is due to take over his new post from April 1.
“The ECB is delighted with Aaqib's acceptance of its offer,” said Dilawar Mani, chief-executive officer of the ECB. “He signed a standard contract of three years that can be extended by mutual agreement.”
Javed also expressed the intent of improving the UAE team, and taking them to new heights.
“I shall dedicate myself to producing results and nurturing the talent in the UAE," he said. "I shall work closely with the ECB management … for the creation of a high-class squad.”
The former Pakistani pacer had been coaching in Pakistan for nearly a decade – he moved from coaching the Pakistan Under-19s, to National Cricket Academy, where he served as head coach. He was involved with the national team since 2009, where he served as
bowling coach, as well as assistant coach.
He was first considered for the post in February this year, when he was still serving as the Pakistan team’s bowling coach, during their series against England in UAE.
“An earlier announcement would have been inappropriate due to Aaqib's key role as assistant and bowling coach of Pakistan, and would have caused a distraction from his primary responsibility,” the ECB explained.
The board began the hunt for a coach after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013,
naturally caught the Board’s eye.
“He has played with distinction for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and performed most commendably as bowling coach. His contribution to Pakistan cricket has been most invaluable,” Mani said.
