Aaqib Javed warns Najam Sethi against raising Amir’s issue – Cricket News
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 to the International Cricket Council
(ICC).
The young left-arm seamer is presently serving a 5-year ban from competitive cricket along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in 2010.
Having made a huge impression at the world stage, Amir was considered to be one of the finest young cricketers of the world, having the ability to swing the ball both ways at high speed.
Sethi recently revealed that he plans to raise Amir’s case in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 and would request the sport’s governing body to reconsider the young sportsman’s ban as he has already served more than half of the punishment.
However, Aaqib does not agree with the interim Chairman of the PCB and believes that taking a lenient stance towards a guilty cricketer would set a wrong precedence.
He mentioned, "Without thoroughly reviewing Mohammad Amir's case, Najam Sethi should not put forward anything to the ICC. Aamir's ban should not be reduced as it will set a bad example. I have worked hard with him, but I am not
in favour of reducing his ban."
While talking about the appointment of the interim Chairman, Aaqib expressed his reservations and said that the head of the cricket board should have a cricketing background, only then he would be able to understand the problems
attached with the game. The former cricketer is optimistic that Iqbal Qasim will do a good job in selecting the team for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
"There have been a lot of chairmen who didn't play cricket. Najam Sethi would have played cricket in his school days, but this is an entirely different ball game. The chairman should be linked to cricket in one way or the other,”
said the former fast bowler.  “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980 always takes consensus from the captain.”
The Green Shirts are scheduled to tour the Caribbean next month for a limited-overs series.
