Aaron Finch not thinking about a national call-up – Cricket News Update
Melbourne Renegades’ skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Finch-c881, denied speculations that he has been performing in domestic cricket in order to get a national recall.
Scoring 111 from just 65 balls against the Melbourne Stars and a 31 against Sydney Thunders past weekend, Finch is having a perfect Big Bash League this season, following his immaculate domestic summer for Victoria.
Finch amassed a total of 497 runs at an average of 99.40 in this year’s Ryobi Cup, featuring his career best scores of 154 and 140 (the third best in Victorian history).
Enjoying his current earnings, the 26-year-old feels that any thoughts about a national re-call will affect his domestic performances.
“In the past I've probably thought about it too much and it probably hampers your performance a little bit because you're not concentrating on your job,” said Finch.
Playing his last game, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20, held earlier
in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
However, becoming the Renegades’ Captain has helped the 26-year-old divert his mind off a possible inclusion in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka, for 5 limited over contests, scheduled next month.
“I think being the captain of the side has really probably taken my mind away from selection myself. There's not much you can do except score runs and play well and contribute to wins so I think that I've given myself every opportunity so far,” added Finch.
Leading the side, Finch has helped Renegades win both of their first two games in the BBL. Scheduled to play their next clash against Hobart Hurricanes at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, the skipper believes that the team is playing well and will be looking
to extend their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
Nonetheless, concentrating strictly on domestic cricket, the right-handed batsman believes that being in-form and performing well will improve his chances for a T20I re-call.
“If you're in form at the right time, I think selectors showed last year that they're willing to pick whoever's in form,” he shared.
