Aaron Greene secures Men’s 200m backstroke gold – Speedo Junior National Championships
Aaron Greene of North Texas Nadadores secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on second day of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 14.
The 17-year-old Greene stayed prominently ahead of his opponents in the four-lap backstroke discipline. With his utter determination, she showed no leniency to his opponents and made his way to the wall for gold medal.
He demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the discipline and stood on the victory stand for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 02.23 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 0.51 seconds ahead of Sven Campbell of Orinda Aquatics, who captured silver medal of the discipline by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 02.74 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Brock Turner of Dayton Raiders, who remained 0.56 seconds apart and pocketed bronze medal of the event with a timing of 2 minutes and 03.30 seconds.
Turner was chased by Ryan Ball of Loveland Swim Club, who remained 0.45 seconds apart and settled on the finishing wall as fourth fastest swimmer with an effort of 2 minutes and 03.75 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Carter Griffin of DU Hilltoppers, who suffered a loss of 0.44 seconds over his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 04.19 seconds.
Griffin was trailed by Jason Chen of Pleasanton Seahawks, who was 0.43 seconds apart and occupied sixth best place of the race by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 04.62 seconds.
Chen was chased by Brandon James of Terrapins Swim Team, who was 0.32 seconds slower and secured seventh position of the event by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 04.94 seconds.
James was chased by Robert Owen of Crimson Aquatics, who suffered a deficit of nearly 1.30 seconds and reported a time of 2 minutes and 06.21 seconds.
Greene was happy with his form in the distant backstroke discipline and aroused hopes of his fans by expressing his desire of accomplishing the same at superior levels of sport.
