Aaron Hill sparks as Toronto Blue Jays outclass Chicago White Sox, 13-4 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays’ second baseman, Aaron Hill had a remarkable day as he hit four RBIs and went 1-for-5 in the Blue Jays’ 13-4 victory against the Chicago White Sox at Rogers Centre, Toronto on May 29.
The first inning was full of scoring opportunities for both sides as the White Sox put one run while the Jays added six runs. For the White Sox, Carlos Quentin struck a solo homer (417 feet) towards left centre-field. Jose Bautista, J.P. Arencibia, Yunel
Escobar and Corey Patterson each contributed four runs in the first inning while Hill struck a solo homer (360 feet) to left-field and Edwin Encarnacion homered (404 feet) towards left-field to complete a six-run campaign.
Second innings went without any run for both sides due to perfect throws of the pitchers. The White Sox added one run in the third inning to reduce the lead 6-2. Paul Konerko singled to left-field and Juan Pierre posted a single run during third inning.
The Jays extended their lead 9-2 by posting three runs in the fourth inning. Rajai Davis and Escobar both singled while Patterson homered (397 feet) towards right-field.
The Jays blasted their fifth inning again with three runs and got a 12-2 lead when Jayson Nix, Encarnacion and Davis each posted three runs collectively. In the sixth inning, Juan Rivera scored one run when Arencibia singled to centre-field to give the Jays
a convincing 13-2 lead. On the other side, the White Sox batters were unable to post a run from the fourth to the eighth inning.
The pitchers were on top in the seventh and eighth inning as they did not permit even a single run. The last inning went in favour of the White Sox as they contributed two runs to cut their deficit 13-4 when Ramon Castro hit a home-run (408 feet) to left-field
and Alex Rios scored a single run.
Chicago’s Manager Ozzie Guillen was frustrated with the loss and said, “We won the first game here but it turned out to be another bad trip to Canada, a very bad trip to Canada. We continue to play real bad in this ballpark.”
Ricky Romero was also impressive for the Jays as he permitted just two runs on six hits in seven inning pitches.
