Aaron Laffey signs with New York Mets to a minor league deal – MLB Update
The New York Mets have signed starting pitcher Aaron Laffey to a Minor League deal. Mets’ management announced on Thursday that Laffey now will play for them in the Minors and will also be invited into Majors.
Laffey last played for the Toronto Blue Jays where he played with quite consistency and achieved good numbers. He pitched well and went at 4.56 ERA along with 4-6 win-loss, 48 strikeouts and 1.36 WHIP.
Overall his career stats of 4.38 ERA along with 25-29 win-loss, 233 strikeouts and 1.50 WHIP are also quite consistent. With his arrival, the Mets certainly are feeling quite confident. Their one of the most offensive pitchers R.A. Dickey has recently signed
with the Blue Jays and the Mets needed a good pitcher.
With Laffey’s arrival, the Mets are feeling confident enough to play with more thrust in the next Major League Baseball season.
Earlier during Dickey’s time, the Mets showed good and consistent performances. Dickey’s last season’s performance alone proved wonderful for the Mets. He finished with great numbers and achieved tremendous stats. He achieved 2.73 ERA along with 20-6 win-loss,
230 strikeouts and 1.05 WHIP.
His career ERA of 3.98 along with 61-56 win-loss, 739 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP also makes him a good professional baseball player. Though Dickey left the club but he still remembers his time with the Mets and released a statement.
“I am not going to lie to you . . . The trade was hard for me at first. This (New York) is where my heart was, where I wanted to be, where I lived out a story of redemption felt that every one of you shared it with me in some form or fashion. I loved pitching
for you,” Dickey said.
He added, “I loved your passion, the way you embraced me from the start, and the way you seemed to appreciate the effort I was putting forth. Every time I’d walk off the mound after an outing, I’d look in your faces.”
The next few weeks will be critical for the Mets as they will sign some more potential pitchers to enter with confidence into a new Major League season.
