Aaron Ramsey returns to reserve team action
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has returned to the football pitch from his career threatening leg break. He played 45 minutes in a match for Arsenal reserves against Wolverhampton Wanderers reserves.
Aaron suffered the horrific injury to tibia and fibula of his right leg after a rough tackle by Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross in February, last season. Initially, it was feared that Ramsey’s playing days were over,
but after months of rehabilitation and work in the gym, the 19-year old is back in action.
Understandably, Aaron was full of joy after getting back to playing ways. After his outing on the pitch, he said, "It's great to be back outside and kicking the ball again," he said last month after returning to training. I missed
it for a long time, but it is such a good feeling to be back outside.
I'm a very motivated guy, I've missed a lot [of football] and it's made me realise how much it means to me. Now I just want to get back and start doing what I used to do."
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger was also delighted to get his player back. Wenger set Ramsey’s recuperation target period was until November and he was extremely pleased that the midfielder had made a full recovery in time.
The Frenchman said, “You would be amazed if you saw him in training, he has suddenly in the last month made a huge step forward. If I consider now when I look at him, you see his smile again.
He has changed since six months ago because he has the feeling that the worst is behind him and everyday he is getting closer to what he wants to be, and that means being a football player."
Aaron’s return is a boost for his club and country alike. The Wales international will be welcomed back into his national team, who have lost their first three UEFA Euro 2012 qualifiers during his absence.
Ramsey snubbed Manchester United to join the Gunners from Cardiff City in a deal worth £4.8million, in June of 2008. Since his move to the Emirates, he has made rapid progress as a player, under the management of Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal will be lifted by the return of the versatile youngster, who can play as both a sweeper and a playmaker in midfield.
The Welshman made 29 appearances and scored 4 times for the north-Londoners in all competitions, before the tragic accident occurred.
