Abbottabad Falcons v Islamabad Leopards – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Falcons claim 2-wicket win
Umar Gul’s furious bowling assault went in vain for the Islamabad Leopards as a composed batting performance from skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 guided the Abbottabad Falcons to a close victory, by a margin of 2 wickets, during their match in the ongoing Faysal Bank
T-20 Cup, played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, today on December 3.
The Leopards won the toss and chose to bat first, but were unable to do full justice to their decision, with the Falcons’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raheel-Majeed-c83308 and
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naeem-Anjum-c78462 (11) succumbed to Amjad Waqas after putting up a brief fight.
Coming in at number 6, Imad Wasim (who top-scored for the team with 45) resuscitated the team’s innings to some extent, teaming up with Moed Ahmed (17) for a 33-run 5th wicket stand, and following it up with a 37-run partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faizan-Riaz-c56754,
who remained unbeaten on 17. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajid-Ali-c87980 (1) and Iftikhar Anjum (4*), he got the Leopards up to a final total of 116 with 8 wickets down,
by the end of 20 overs.
Only two of the Falcons’ batsmen managed to reach double figures, but their contributions were solid enough to get their team over the finish line. Led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zohaib-Ahmed-c98636 (4-0-28-2), the Leopards put in great effort to try and bowl their
opponents out – however, the Falcons managed to make it over the finish line just in time.
Wicketkeeper batsman Mir Azam (59), who opened for his side, contributed a vital half-century, and his 67-run partnership with skipper Younis Khan (38*) proved to be the highlight of the team’s innings. Azam was unable to resist the assaults of the opposition’s
bowling attack for long, but Younis Khan stuck it out until the end, and aided by a handful of small contributions from the remaining batsmen, managed to get the team up to 120, with 2 wickets and 1 ball remaining.
